Katherine Miller, Avery Maloney and Vic Miller worked together to create our One Day videos.

One Day was a huge success for BG Falcon Media this year. Not only were the number of donors doubled, but the total donations increased by 75% since last year.

Juniors Avery Maloney, Katherine Miller, and senior Vic Miller helped get the word out to alumni and other friends of the program.

Together, the team worked to produce five different videos to share why One Day donations mean so much to students. These successful videos featured several faculty members and students who contribute to Falcon Media every day, including Falcon Media Director Karl Smith, BG24 Adviser Jasmine Crighton, Social Media Manager Claire Sant and Sports Content Director Lucas Kleimeyer.

Juniors Avery Maloney and Katherine Miller were tasked with recording the videos. They used their iPhones with no fancy cameras to record.

After Avery edited the videos a bit, they then got delivered to Vic Miller, a senior graphic design student who works on the design team, to fancy them up.

“I created motion graphics and slides for the videos to help guide them along,” Vic said. “I also created an end slide as a call to action to get people to donate.”

Each member of the trio said the planning and discussion at the front end of the project meant they didn’t really have to “think” during the creation of the videos. It was all about executing on the pplan.

Avery, Katherine, and Vic said they were all surprised by the increased success of One Day for BG Falcon Media..

“I wasn’t really expecting it to make such a big impact that it did,” Avery said.

Now with this year’s success, the trio is already stirring up possibilities to help promote next year’s One Day. Avery had an idea to feature even more students on the videos to explore “what hurdles we are running into.” Meanwhile, Katherine also had an idea to start preparing for One Day, starting this upcoming Fall, to be able to promote those who work in Fall sports more.

The team used their skills and basic equipment to create outstanding videos. Thank you to everyone who donated on One Day to support hardworking students like Avery, Katherine and Vic.
