A note from our new BG News Editor-In-Chief

Alivia Hartpence

Hello! My name is Alivia Hartpence and I’m serving as Editor in Chief for the 2024-2025 school year. I’m currently a senior studying broadcast journalism with a minor in political science and have been a part of Falcon Media throughout the entirety of my college career. I have served as Managing Editor, a fill in anchor, and as a reporter for our student newscast. In addition, I am a Digital Content Production and Multimedia Journalist intern at WTVG, a local news station in Toledo, and have previously interned at the Dayton Daily News. Through these internships, I’ve learned how to decipher news from content, how to produce breaking news quickly and efficiently, and how to communicate with sources to create good stories. I’m a better writer, journalist, and person because of the internships that I’ve been a part of. I am passionate about making journalism accessible, inclusive, and meaningful, and I look forward to cultivating that passion into the paper this year! Serving the Bowling Green community is of utmost importance to me and cultivating a team of reporters- no matter their experience level to continue to serve the public is my goal for the year. From breaking news to feel-good stories, I want the paper to be something that people pick up and feel seen in. Throughout my tenure as editor, I hope to continue the longstanding credibility that the BG News has created and add my twist to the paper this year. I look forward to connecting with people and appreciate the opportunity to serve in this role!
